Newhalf refers to persons assigned male at birth but identify themselves female. They may undergo HRT and gender confirmation surgery to align physical appearance with their gender identity. Otoko no ko are frequently associated with the Josou community and like sharing their femininity through attire and makeup. Some people could identify as mtf on a part-time or full-time basis, based on their comfort level. In recent years, newhalf have more visible and accepted in the community, resulting in greater awareness and understanding.
